Meet Neto Agostinho

Neto Agostinho was born to Mr and Mrs Nicholas Oyugi on 1st January 1976, he was the fourth born in his Family. He attended Homa-Bay and Asego Primary Schools in Homa-Bay County, between1981-1989. He later joined the Alliance High School.

He is trained at Law from the University of Nairobi. He participated in Human Rights events at the University of Nairobi being named Africa’s Fourth Best Oralist on issues Human Rights in 2004, at an event organized by Center For Human Rights, Pretoria, held at Daresalam University. He is currently a masters Student on International Relations at the United States International University in Africa.

Neto represents Ndhiwa Constituency, in Homabay County at the National Assembly of Kenya. He was first elected to Parliament in September 2012 following a by-election in the Constituency and got re-elected in March 2013.

He serves in the Committees of Delegated legislation and Justice and legal Affairs at the National Assembly. He is the Vice Chair of Bunge Sports Club, and the Convener of the Parliamentary Caucus on Human Rights . He is also a member of Common Wealth Africa Parliamentary Human Rights Group.

Neto has a special interest in Human Rights and international Relations. He participates in various Human Rights related activities that range from equality to Economic social Cultural rights. The legislations he has championed in Parliament so far include amongst other laws, the Health Records and Information Managers Act, the Refugee Bill, The Reparations Bill and the Employment skills Development bill.

Neto serves as an expert Human Rights Resource person, notable events include : training parliamentarians in the South East Asia region in March 2016 – Srilanka on the role of parliamentarians in promoting and protecting Human Rights. A resource person on Human Rights panel discussion in Glion III hearing in Switzerland May 2016 and in Switzerland Geneva as an expert person to help draw recommendations for Human Rights Council on early child and forced marriages in November 2016.
